Style Illustrated

This Blog does really nice fashion drawings for his blogging material.

This is a short video that he made to start of his blog in January.

Pure Basketball

Most of you know, I'm a huge basketball fan.

I'm pretty sure I've seen 500 or more basketball videos in my life and this is most definitely one of the most well made basketball video I've seen.

Time-lapse, dolly shots, aerial shots, graphic fonts, etc.

Everything is well made with a nice true hardcore basketball culture.

Pick-up games at NYC.

Kids, please don't try this at home. Seriously

The Young Businessman

I wish I could be like him when I was his age understanding all the aspects of the business.

Very inspiring and hardworking, it goes to show that your efforts will eventually be recognized, eventually. lol

Revive your boots

In December I tore off one of the laces in my boots when I was about to go to the Foo Fighters concert but I managed to tie it off and head to Rock & Roll. For the past half a year I've been wearing my pair of Zara boots which a torn off lace until yesterday I went into a shoe shop and bought myself some fine leather laces.

I have had these boots for a year now and it's been through the snow in Tokyo, the streets of Hong Kong, the sand in Adelaide and the rain in Sydney. I've had compliments with these boots but with my new laces I think I have updated them to a trendier version, plus with these leather laces it won't torn on me so easily as the ones before.

If you have any old boots stash in a dusty corner you can try buying new laces and bring them back to life!

Let's tread more lands with style!

Oldest Burger in Town

Filming this place must be awesome.

The Prime Burger Restaurant, in Midtown Manhattan.

Old rusty classic décors and fantastic personnel. Their shot selection was excellent, the framing was impeccable and I really loved the whole atmosphere of the place.

Should definitely try this place out whenever you'll be in New York.

Redefine Gravity

Through photography we hope to go against physics, giving people the illusion to be hovering, elevating, flying and many more.

Several photographers have projects set to achieve that illusion and they all look stunning.

Here are some photographers who has been trying to break the law of physics.

Pack like a Gentlemen

Most of you are planning to travel, short trips around Australia or overseas for a holiday.

I am sure that most us stress a little when we pack our clothes in out bags or suitcases. Trying to be most space efficient while not wrinkle your clothes or the new pair of shoes you've bought.

Here are two nice & simple videos that can help you in the very long run.

Street Photography

Went out with my friends to Surry Hills on Friday and started my first street photography trip!!!

I wish I have a 50mm lens....!!!

So my thoughts on my first street photography is that it really is spontaneous, you don't know what is going to come up next, which subject is going to be interesting and you really need to time you shots well in order to get anything decent.

Street Etiquette X Put This On

Two very popular mens online fashion blogs:

Street Etiquette as I've introduced to you before they very much concentrate of their own style while teaching people let me how to work with what you got, financial and wardrobe wise. The masters of mix & match.

Put This On is a fashion blog that teaches you quality, which items a brand is specialised in, how to tell the difference between actual quality garments or just bullshit marketing. They also advises on the right investments especially on suits and other items that should last you a life time.

This cross over video gives out tips on how be smart when buying second hand clothing and how to makes certain items work for you in a thrift store.

Agnes b

Every time I'm in Hong Kong I see this brand Agnes b. I never understand why it is so popular with the people in Hong Kong as it opens cafes and different types of fashion style stores around Hong Kong. It kind of separates itself from the international brands such as Prada, Gucci, Dior or other brands like Commes Des Garcon, Junya Watanabe.

This interview with The designer herself Agnes b explains why her fashion designs are different compare to most designers.

Enough of "Step Up"

I seriously don't like the repetitive storyline of step up going to the three dance stages and ending in the epic dance battle.

I came across this documentary, this to me is a real life journey of people battling through their passion.

They currently need donations to help with their editing and other costs in their final production. Please help out if you can cause this already looks way better than the "Step Up" flicks I've seen.

Prada Handmade

I love to see videos like this where you can see the shoe handmade, woven, punched, stitched and to be able to see the product from start to finish, so graceful.

But every time I finish looking at it I would have the impulse to buy it....

Puppetry

I use to dislike puppets because I tend to think that they are not realistic enough. Over the years I've realised that the puppet's purpose isn't an realistic act but to creatively send out a message and with the audience's imagination to complete the work of art.

Joseph Mann and his crew created this marvellous puppet show and captured it on video which I think is one of the finest puppet acts I've seen.

Career Crisis

As one of our blogger Allie E posted before about people's crisis with their career, life, money and everything in the future.

In this post I want to elaborate on that too. I want to emphasis how important it is to be doing something you love and passionate about. The obvious reasons is that it's something you'll enjoy to do everyday and all that sentimental stuff, but what everyone cares about is:

"How do I know I'm going to be successful in what I love doing?"

First of all let's establish what's the meaning of being passionate, the definition of "passion". I personally define that as "Something you would prioritise, initiate to start and doing it for countless hours a day, then wake up and be willing to continue on." If you can do that with your work then I define you as passionate.

Only the best can be successful and being passionate drives you to be the best.

While I was working I was listening to an interview by Chase Jarvis an incredibly successful photographer interviewing Allegra Wilde an international portfolio reviewer. This was an eye opener for me and I definitely agreed on what they have discussed in their long interview.

One of the key points that they have discussed about is presenting your most passionate work to others and that will distinct yourself from the rest which I believe to be very true.

If this interview is too long for you to concentrate on then play it as a background and listen to it while your are working or studying. It will help anyone who is trying to develop a strong portfolio for themselves.
